Blind Spot Safety Solutions
Integrated Safety Solutions For Heavy EquipmentPreco is focused on providing a reliable, integrated safety solution for your heavy equipment. We can enhance critical safety on any work site. Saving lives and protecting your corporate heavy equipment investment is Preco's business! What Is Blind Spot Safety?A blind spot is the area around a vehicle or piece of construction equipment that is not visible to the operator, either by direct line-of-sight or indirectly by use of internal and external mirrors. Our innovative Blind Spot Collision Warning system is called PreView™ . With the PreView™ Blind Spot Safety System a vehicle operator can be actively notified of a moving or stationary object in vehicle blind spots.PreView™ in combination with traditional passive warning devices like backup alarms, safety lighting, and cameras is called Safety Alert Systems S.A.S.™ Can you see the workers in front of the vehicle depicted below? “Using radar with video allows a driver to be alerted when an obstacle is in his blind spot. He can confirm the nature of the obstacle in the video monitor.” Donald Nama, 2006 Fleetowner.com article Speaking on the cost justification for fleet adoption of obstacle detection systems in FleetOwner.com, Kevin Smith of Eaton Corporation states: "Right now, the average wrongful death award is more than $8 million. And that doesn't even take into account ‘pain and suffering.’"According to Todd M. Ruff of NIOSH's Department of Health and Human Services, "The majority of fatalities that occur in road construction work zones in the United States involve a worker being struck by a piece of construction equipment or other vehicle." Source: Evaluation of Systems to Monitor Blind Areas Behind Trucks Used in Road Construction and Maintenance: Phase 1, 2003. The California Fatality Assessment & Control Evaluation (F.A.C.E.) program, Issue #3 of F.A.C.E. FACTS, 2001 cited investigations of two highway construction deaths in the previous year. These two deaths happened when heavy equipment drivers backed over workers. These workers were in the blind spots of the drivers. The equipment had working back-up alarms. |
The PreView™ pulsed-time radar object detection system comes in two models, Heavy Duty and Standard. The Standard sensor is for lighter commercial applications such as Utility or certain Construction vehicles.
The Heavy Duty solution can provide sensor coverage around much larger commercial heavy equipment for Mining, Waste Hauling, or Construction.PreView™ is designed to detect both stationary and moving objects up to 26 feet away in zones obscured from the operators view. The systems rugged design was specifically engineered for the harsh environments of the heavy equipment industry. PreView can also integrate with other safety systems such as cameras, reverse alarms and reversing lights to not only enhance operator awareness but to also warn workers around the machine. These systems come with an in-cab display unit that shows the approximate distance to an object with a series of L.E.D.s and audible beeps to alert the operator. The in-cab display has three audible settings to meet in-cab noise level requirements and the L.E.D.s are easily visible night and day. PreView™ can help you:
